Gunmen targeting bus in the occupied West Bank kill 3 people

On January 6, 2025, gunmen attacked a bus and car near the Israeli settlement of Kedumim in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of three Israelis—two 70-year-old women and a 35-year-old policeman—and injuries to eight others.

The attack occurred in the Palestinian village of Al-Funduq, a location traversed by both Israelis and Palestinians. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack, vowing to “reach the despicable murderers” and “settle accounts with them and with everyone who assisted them.”

Hamas praised the attack but did not claim responsibility. In response, Israeli forces have initiated extensive operations to apprehend the assailants.

This incident is part of a surge in violence in the West Bank since Hamas’ attack from Gaza in October 2023, which ignited ongoing conflict in the region. The war has resulted in significant casualties, with over 45,800 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis losing their lives.

The situation remains volatile, with continued hostilities and complex political dynamics impacting both regions.
